Jewellery Wanderlust（ジュエリーワンダーラスト）

ジュエリーワンダーラストは、元国際NGO職員である代表 中島 玖（なかじま ひさ）氏が、鉱業や宝飾業界の持つ人道的な問題を出発点として始めたエシカルジュエリーブランドです。

ジュエリーワンダーラストが扱う宝石は、オールドストックやアンティーク・ヴィンテージ、そして人権侵害なく採掘された宝石です。そうした特性上、インドやタイ、香港といった一般的な宝石取引のハブでは供給元を見つけることが難しく、世界中に散らばるいくつもの小さな供給元や鉱山と、直接やりとりをして宝石を仕入れています。

特徴的なものとしては、ジンバブエのアクアマリン。サステナブルな採掘計画を行い、女性たちを積極的に採用し、彼女たちが安心安全に働ける環境が整備されています。それから、コンゴ民主共和国のダイヤモンド。ジュエリーワンダーラストでは、コンゴ民主共和国にルーツを持つパートナーを通じて、小規模採掘者から適正な価格でダイヤモンドを仕入れています。採掘者たちにはプレミアム（奨励金）が代金に上乗せして支払われ、そのお金は採掘者が、装備を整えたり子どもの学費に充てたり、生活を改善するために使われます。

EDAYA

EDAYAは、デザイン・アート、教育、コミュニティの関与を通じて、創造的に竹を取り入れた活動を展開する集団です。地域の知恵を取り入れて、人間、自然、社会の関係を再構築し、持続可能な未来を共に創造しています。

EDAYAは、2012年にハーバード大学で訓練を受けた日本の研究者兼プロデューサーである山下彩香氏と、フィリピンの先住民族カリンガ出身で、カリンガの竹楽器の数少ない専門家の一人として認められた竹の職人エドガー・バナサン氏によって共同設立されました。それ以来、EDAYAは人々が環境、社会、そして自分自身との関係を再考するきっかけを提供しながら、竹の楽器の保存、復興、普及に積極的に取り組んできました。地域および世界中でさまざまなワークショップ、イベント、展示を開催しています。

EDAYAのスタジオは、フィリピンのバギオから車で45分の距離にあるトゥバに拠点を構えています。ユネスコ創造都市の一つであるバギオに近く、地元の知恵に触れ、学びを深め、新たな視点を発見したいと思うすべての人々を歓迎しています。深い自然と文化の中に身を置きながら、地域の知恵を体験することができます。

A creative bamboo multi-disciplinary collective, working in design/art, education, and community engagement. They redesign the relationship between humans, nature, and society by embracing local wisdom to co-create sustainable futures. EDAYA was co-founded in 2012 by Ayaka Yamashita, a Harvard-trained Japanese researcher and producer, and Edgar Banasan, a native of the Indigenous Kalinga, Philippines, and a master bamboo craftsman recognized as one of the few remaining experts of Kalinga bamboo musical instruments. Since then, they have designed various creative bamboo projects that let people re-think their relationship to the environment, society, and themselves while actively preserving, revitalizing, and introducing bamboo musical instruments. They have organized various workshops, events, and exhibitions locally and globally. Based in Tuba, 45-minutes car ride from Baguio, a UNESCO Creative City of Crafts and Folk Arts, their studio welcomes everyone willing to encounter local wisdom, enhance their learnings and discover new perspectives by immersing themselves in deep nature and culture.

カンボジアの子供たちを支える活動 / Supporting Children in Cambodia

カンボジアでは、新型コロナウイルスの影響により経済の回復が進まず、出稼ぎに出る親が多く、子どもたちだけが残される現状があります。そうした子どもたちを保護し、現在はシェムリアップ地域において、子供図書館の運営を中心とした活動を行っています。図書館の蔵書は少ないため、クメール語の絵本や書籍の購入、設備のメンテナンスなどに資金を充てています。

過去には支援のためには、現地に住み込んで、現地の現状・ニーズに応えることが好ましいとご夫婦でカンボジアに渡り、まずはオー村で2007年から2019年まで活動を展開し、奨学金を通じて、子どもたちが学校の授業についていけるよう、卒業まで継続的に支援を行ってきました。カンボジアでは、学校の授業内容が非常に難しく、塾などの補助学習を受けなければ進級が難しいという現状があります。
それから、当時の学校には、日頃子供たち全員が集合できる場所がなかったので、大きな屋根付きスペース兼自転車小屋と、子供達が校庭で遊べる遊具のブランコや滑り台などを日本の皆様からのご寄付により設置させていただきました。

現在、その奨学金の支援を受けたオー村の子どもたちは立派に成長し、卒業生の中には教師となり、かつての自分と同じ境遇の子どもたちを教えている人もいます。奨学金支援者の活動は2019年に全員卒業しましたので、奨学金制度は終了いたしました。現在、オー村とのつながりは、ご夫妻の知人の経営する小さな美術教室のアーティストたちに派遣授業として依頼し、アーティストたちの毎月の給料の補足を日本からいただいているご寄付の中から支払っております。

In Cambodia, the economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic remains slow. Many parents are forced to migrate for work, leaving children behind in vulnerable conditions. To support these children, we currently focus on operating a children’s library in the Siem Reap area. Due to the limited number of books, we use donations to purchase Khmer-language picture books and reading materials, as well as to maintain the facility.

From 2007 to 2019, a couple deeply committed to this mission lived in Cambodia to directly respond to local needs. They began their activities in Or Village, where they provided long-term scholarship support so that children could continue their education and successfully graduate. In Cambodia, school lessons are very difficult, and it is often challenging to progress without supplementary education such as tutoring.

Thanks to the scholarship program, many of the children in Or Village have grown up and are now thriving. Some alumni have become teachers themselves, supporting children in situations similar to their own. The scholarship program officially ended in 2019 when all students completed their education.

Today, the connection with Or Village continues through art classes run by a local acquaintance. These artists are invited to teach in the village, and part of their monthly salary is funded by donations from Japan.
